The American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR) Course is designed to train participants to save lives of victims in cardiac arrest through high quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) both in-and out-of-hospital settings.​

Concepts covered include:

  • Chain of Survival

  • Adult, Child and Infant CPR utilizing the C-A-B sequence

  • Use of a Bag-Valve-Mask device

  • Use of an Automated External Defibrillator

  • Relief of Choking

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA.
